Include the following when you open a ticket to establish a BGP session with RackGenius (AS32002). Both IPv4 and IPv6 sessions are built by default. A complete submission gets both up on the first pass.
Before you submit, confirm you have
- Your own ASN, registered to you at an RIR.
- IP space you are authorized to announce (or an LOA for it).
- An active service to carry the session (transit port, cross-connect, VLAN, or colo).
- Published
route/route6IRR objects with the correct origin ASN. - RPKI ROAs for each prefix at the correct max length. Invalids are rejected.
Include these in your ticket
- Your ASN.
- IPv4 prefixes to announce: each with its length.
- IPv6 prefixes to announce: each with its length.
- IRR database: where your
route/route6objects live (RADB, ARIN, RIPE, ALTDB, etc.), and youras-setname if you have one. - RPKI ROAs: confirm they exist for each prefix at the correct max length.
- Max-prefix expected: per family (IPv4 and IPv6), so we set caps with headroom.
- Routes you want from us: full table, default only, or both.
- LOA: attached, if you are announcing space not obviously registered to your ASN.
- Session options: MD5 (supply a secret or ask us to set one), BFD, or multihop, only if you need them.
- Service carrying the session: transit port, cross-connect ID, VLAN, or colo service, and the site (Grand Rapids DC4 or Detroit DC1).
- NOC and abuse contacts: plus your PeeringDB record if you have one.
- Your router platform: vendor and OS, for our reference.
What we handle
If you have no IP space with us, we assign the point-to-point link addressing (IPv4 /31 and IPv6 /127); if you already hold an assignment with us, we use addressing from that. We build both sessions against your IRR-derived filters with RPKI validation, apply your max-prefix caps, and send you our AS32002 peer IPs. You configure your end to match.
Full background on session defaults, filtering, communities, and LOAs is in Establishing a BGP Session with RackGenius (AS32002). Questions before submitting? Contact our peering desk at
