What is LuckPerms?

LuckPerms is currently one of the best Minecraft permissions plugins to exist. Having the ability to use a web editor to configure permissions makes things very simple. It's also one of the most popular, meaning there are a ton of resources online. We gave this plugin a spotlight in one of our YouTube Shorts HERE so be sure to check that out as well.

How to Install LuckPerms:

How to Configure LuckPerms:

  • While in-game, use the command /lp editor.

An editor session will be generated. You’ll want to click on this link to open the web editor. Click Yes if the trust prompt appears.

  • After opening the web editor, you’ll be prompted with an Editor Connection. Simply click on the command and it will copy to your clipboard. Then go ahead and paste the command in your Minecraft server.

The editor is now successfully connected to your Minecraft server. From here you can create groups, set parent groups, and most importantly, add or remove permissions.

  • To create a group, select the plus sign and give the group a name. If you would like this group to inherit permissions from another group, you can also select a Parent from the drop-down list.

  • Now that we’ve created a group, let’s assign permission to it. For this example, we’ll use the Essentials command for teleport. In the Add permissions box, search or type the permission you wish to add. It must show up in the search results to be a valid permission. If you are having trouble finding the permission you need, refer to the plugin permissions page for the plugin you're working with.
  • After adding the permission, set the value true or false depending on what you would like, then be sure to save your recent work in the web editor by clicking the green Apply button in the top right corner of the page.

  • You’ll be required to paste the editor link into Minecraft again. These are the same steps as mentioned earlier.

Testing LuckPerms:

  • Now that changes have been implemented, it’s time to test. Your player will need to be in the group that you created for the permissions to apply.
  • To move a player to a LuckPerms group, type the following command:

/lp user [PLAYER] parent set [GROUP] (ex. /lp user SCHEvan parent set video)

NOTE: [PLAYER] = your in-game Minecraft name. [GROUP] = the name of the group you created earlier.

  • Now that I’ve moved myself to the video group, I have permission to use the /tp command that I added earlier.

These are the basics of configuring LuckPerms. This plugin is constantly being updated and features a full-fledged WIKI page that contains valuable setup and troubleshooting information. Be sure to visit https://luckperms.net/ for more information.
