What is a Resource Pack?
Resource packs are a great way to add some spice to your Minecraft server. These include custom textures, music, models, language files, etc.
Things You Will Need:
You will need a resource pack that matches your Minecraft version, a free Dropbox account, and access to your server.properties file.
How to Set a Resource Pack on Your Server:
- Download the resource pack of your liking. Make sure that the resource pack version matches up with the version of Minecraft you are running on your server. This file must be less than 50MB and cannot be layered inside of another zip file. (The .zip can’t be inside of another .zip)
- Navigate to Dropbox, login and select the Upload files button. If you don’t have a Dropbox account, you are allowed up to 2GB of storage on a free account.
- Locate your resource pack and select Open. Give it some time to upload your file — the indicator will say uploaded when complete.
- Hover over the file on the right-hand side and click Share. A new window will pop up. Select Create Link and then Copy Link.
- Close out of Dropbox, navigate to our Control Panel and login to your account.
- now click on your server so you see the console view, then click the
button to stop your server please don't click the button multiple times or when it says "Kill" as this could corrupt your files. - Select the Files tab on the left-side menu.
- Find and select the server.properties file
- once the file has opened look for the resource-pack= line if you cant see it you can add that to the bottom of the file, paste the link that you copied earlier in this spot after the = with no spaces.
- scroll all the way to the bottom and click the blue
button towards the bottom right. - now head back to the console tab and click the
button. - Done!
NOTE: Be sure that on your Minecraft client server resource packs is set to prompt or enabled before joining the server with the custom resource pack, or else the download prompt will not pop up.
